John Maytham interviews Tracey Botha, Fundraising Manager at the South African Red Cross Society.

Listen below.

As relentless rain continues to batter the Western Cape, the South African Red Cross Society has been tirelessly working around the clock to address the overwhelming damage caused by the floods.

Botha says that the persistent rain has made it increasingly difficult to reach areas where help is desperately needed.

"The Red Cross have been literally working right through the night; they're not stopping for a second."
- Tracey Botha, Fundraising Manager – South African Red Cross Society

While many people wait until Mandela Day to take action, she emphasises that the time to help is now.

By the time Mandela Day arrives on 18 July, the flooding and its impacts on people's lives may be forgotten, she says.

"The crisis is now...We need Mandela Day now, we need action now."
