Local acapella group ‘The Joy’ is taking the world by storm

Music group, The Joy, has been taking traditional music of the mines and hostels and turning it into tracks for the young modern listener.
The Joy is made up of five young men from Hammarsdale Township, Pastor (Ntokozo Bright Magcaba), Duzie (Melokuhle Mkhungo), Guduza (Sphelele Hlophe), Sthombe (Phelelani Sithole) and Marcus (Sanele Ngcobo).

They recently released their debut album and have already performed at the major international music festival Coachella with Doja Cat.

According to Gumede-Chizhanje, their music is so raw and authentic that hearing it in person can make even the most stoic person emotional.
In the age of auto tune, people cannot get enough of their music with no instruments or overdubbing.
As teenage boys interested in music, they had to overcome a lot of judgement and do a lot of hard work to prove they have a talent that should be shared with the world.
One member shared that his mom only took him seriously after they entered and won a local competition.
