Drive with Thando on 947 talks more about it.

Listen below.

@thecarscene_ STRESS!!! DAY 1 of driving our R30k BMW to Kenya was an adventure to say the least and despite the challenges we made it safely to our overnight accommodation at @crestahotels Mahalapye for a good rest before tomorrow’s drive! 🏁 Along the way we planted a @confessions.za sticker on the Tropic of Capricorn, I challenge you to find it! 👀 Before we can leave tomorrow we need to find replacement fuel pipes and of course new bolts to get our rear seatbelts back into the bench! 💀 #bmwx5 #bmwlife #botswana #botswanatourism #botswanasafari #botswana_insta #botswanawildlife #botswanatravel #africarally #kenya #zambia ♬ original sound - TheCarScene
“We were given a challenge to buy a car for R30,000 and drive it to Nairobi… it’s for charity”
- Sam
“We ended up viewing six cars before deciding on a BMW X5… You can’t exactly buy a very reliable car for R30,000… [and] the Land Bruiser was born.”
- Sam

The challenge supports the Sparrow Academy and Child Welfare Tshwane.

The 5,000km journey took the guys about a month to complete.

For Sam the highlight was actually getting stuck, believe it or not.

“Even on day one we barely made it out of the country because our fuel lines kept popping off… That adrenaline rush, this is part of the adventure.”
- Sam
