Manaleng breaks down what makes the 2024 Paris Olympics so special:

  • Athletes will swim in the Seine River for the first time since 1923.
  • Paris has the largest security deployment with over 5000 police officers.
  • It is the least costly Olympics in comparison to the recent games.
  • Most of the structures built for the Olympics are temporary as Paris tries to limit its carbon footprint.
  • The opening ceremony will be in the open, moving through Paris along the river on boats.
  • An equal number of men and women compete in this year’s games.
“It is the first Games since Covid… it is exciting.”
