You CAN find love, even if you're broke or unemployed
While some people give affection easily, others find it difficult.
According to Jacobs, if a person grew up in a cold home, they may withhold affection from their partner because it feels foreign or unnatural.
“It makes it very difficult to match your partner where you are at.”

In addition to this, if a person has had a traumatic experience, they may feel overwhelmed by physical affection.
Jacobs says both parties must be empathetic, open, and curious to bridge a gap in affection levels.
“Through asking the right questions you can find out how [your partner] shows love.”

She adds that physical affection needs to be introduced slowly and consensually in a way both people are comfortable with.
Affection does not always have to be expressed with physical touch, as long as both partners feel they are well connected and there is a safe space between them.
