JOHANNESBURG - Operations at coal miner MC Mining remain suspended for a second day following a tragic accident that led to the death of a miner this week.
This was after the company confirmed a fall-of-ground incident at its Uitkomst Colliery in KZN.
The miner who had been working for the company since 2021 died on Wednesday.
In a note to shareholders on Friday JSE-listed company MC Mining confirmed the accident at its operation in KZN.
The exact details of the incident remain unclear at this stage.
But the company said that an investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched.
It said that the department of Mineral Resources is aware and is assisting and cooperating with the investigation.
MC Mining Interim CEO Christine He said that safety remains a top priority for its workers.
