CAPE TOWN - The case against five men accused of planning a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist in Khayelitsha has been struck off the court roll.
A group of 13 heavily armed men was allegedly planning to rob a cash van in Town Two on Monday.
However, police clamped down on the suspects, leading to a shootout where eight of the alleged criminals died.
On Thursday, the magistrate said the accused were brought to court outside the 48-hour period after their arrest.
The magistrate said the accused were before the court unlawfully.
