An alert young girl from China, who had become lost, cleverly found a way to get help without a mobile phone or asking a passerby, and has since received acclaim on social media.
On 30 July, the eight-year-old from Quzhou, Zhejiang province, became separated from her grandfather while returning home from her dance class.
With no means to contact her family, she became increasingly anxious.
In a stroke of ingenuity, the girl noticed a nearby ATM booth and pressed the red emergency button, which connected her to the bank’s monitoring centre.
"I think this is so clever."

As reported by the South China Morning Post, Zhou Dongying of the Quzhou Rural Commercial Bank responded through the intercom system.
Zhou immediately alerted the police and reassured the girl while advising her to stay where she was.
Police officers from the Kaihua County Public Security Bureau quickly arrived at the scene and successfully reunited the girl with her grandfather, who had been searching for her.
