A recent US study has peeled back the curtain on the secretive world of cheaters, revealing some spicy and shocking truths.

The survey, which tapped into the experiences of 1000 people in relationships, aimed to uncover not just how many have strayed, but also the crafty ways partners have been caught red-handed.

The findings are as jaw-dropping as they are revealing: a staggering 83% of participants admitted to being involved in a cheating relationship.

But the plot thickens when you look at the generational divide – Gen Z leads the charge with a whopping 93% involved in infidelity, outpacing millennials who clock in at 80%.

The study also uncovered the sneaky tactics used to catch these cheaters. Most partners discover infidelity through digital channels like DMs and text messages.

But here's where it gets really interesting:

  • Gen Z is proving to be more adept at covering their digital tracks. Only 22.94% of Gen-Zers were caught via text, compared to 40.2% of millennials.
  • On the honesty front, 34.12% of millennials and 21.83% of Gen-Zers came clean about their cheating when confronted, either because they were bad liars or just couldn’t handle the guilt.
  • A surprising twist involves financial missteps: 16.27% of men were caught through suspicious credit card statements, while only 8.84% of women fell into this trap. It seems men might need to be more discreet with their spending.
  • The irony meter is off the charts when it comes to dating apps: 18.83% of women and 15.57% of men found themselves matched with their own partners while both were busy cheating. Talk about a double whammy.
  • As for guilt and confession, 26.01% of millennials admitted to cheating unprompted, possibly driven by a greater sense of remorse, whereas only 18.17% of Gen-Zers did the same.
  • Physical evidence remains a classic dead giveaway for Gen-Z cheaters. A found item – like a perfume receipt, flowers, or even a condom – caught 19.82% of them in the act.
