The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department would like to inform residents in parts of Strandfontein, Mitchell Plain of critical electricity maintenance to a substation in the area.

The work will take place on Friday, 6 September 2024 from 9 am to 4 pm.

The outage duration is an estimation and restoration could be delayed due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work.

In the event that power is not restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels, including the City’s social media channels, or contact the City's call centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned maintenance work.

The City notes that the electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption.

Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
