Several reports state that DStv Stream users are about to save some Randelas.
DStv Stream provides access to live and video-on-demand content without the need for a satellite dish or decoder and includes the full suite of DStv entertainment, news and all SuperSport channels with various packages available - from basic to premium and differs according to how many users are allowed to stream from one or more devices.
The content provider's latest price cut for premium content viva DStv Stream might make some life-long subscribers very happy.
DStv Stream is now offering existing DStv Stream contract holders and new users an R699 option which previously went for R799, saving R100.
With the R699 option, users can access DStv Stream from one mobile device with access to Premium content and channels.
This option is available for current DStv Stream customers who want to change their plan and for new users, provided that customers take out a 12-month contract.
'There are some Ts and Cs and one of them is, you have to sign up for a 12-month contract which not everyone wants to do because people might not always be able to afford it,' says Friedman.
It's noted that DStv satellite prices are staying the same. They were hiked in February this year to R929 per month with1 decoder view + 1 stream included.
"I think they have realised that they have so much competition with the likes of Netflix, YouTube and gaming platforms that's putting a dent in people paying for some entertainment subscriptions over others so this might be a way to appeal to keep up with that competition - so they are going hard on this new offering."

"If watching specific things offered on DStv Stream is your thing, this might be an option, especially if you add up what it costs to have separate subscriptions for whatever you like to watch."
