The leader and founder of the Xiluva party, Bongani Baloyi, has announced that he will deregister the political organisation after joining Jacob Zuma's uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP).

Baloyi established Xiluva in March last year, following his departure from ActionSA and the Democratic Alliance (DA).

He announced during a media briefing in Soweto on Thursday that he had decided to join former President Jacob Zuma's political organisation.

"One of the reasons for establishing Xiluva was the fact that there was an absence of a political party that was speaking about Ubuntu, the African philisophy and political philosophy and ideology."

"Now, after the elections, when people have expressed their view, it's important for us to consider consolidating, moreso for when we believe we are aligned to the vision... my politics remain clear."
- Bongani Baloyi

The DA to MKP is quite the leap, though? Everyone is on a journey, contends Baloyi.

"I joined the DA as a very young man... you grow as a person. No one starts their journey to remain the same."
- Bongani Baloyi

Baloyi said that leaders and members of the Xiluva political organisation would follow him to the MK Party, adding that the decision to do so was a 'collective one'.

"We did our due diligence when considering MK as a suitor."
