Prince Harry to inherit R190 million from Queen Elizabeth when he turns 40 on Sunday
There is a lot to celebrate for Prince Harry when he turns 40 on Sunday (15 September 2024).
Prince Harry is reportedly set to inherit close to R190 million (£8 million) thanks to a generous gift his late grandmother left for him.
The Duke of Sussex will celebrate his 40th birthday on 15 September. It's a special milestone because it will unlock a trust fund set up by the Queen Mother when Prince Harry was 10 years old.
Established by his great-grandmother in 1994, the fund aims to provide financial gifts to her great-grandchildren.
The Queen Mother, who was 94 at the time, distributed money between her younger relatives with a first payment to be made on their 21st birthdays and a second when they reached 40.
Details of the trust fund haven't been made clear but sources close to the Palace said they assume Harry would have been left with a bigger share of the trust than his brother, Prince William.
While Harry and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and moved to California, their exit from being active royal family members does not affect this inheritance.
