That video has since gone viral as many South Africans are also deeply frustrated with the healthcare system.
London says he had been suffering for 13 days before he decided to share this experience.
He adds that nine out of ten doctors he saw at the hospital were rude and cruel to their patients.
“This is not a Tom London story, this is a patient in Helen Joseph story. It is every other person.”
- Tom London
The straw that broke the camel's back for him was seeing the man opposite him scream in pain and panic during a lumber puncture.
While they worked the doctors did not talk to the patient or try to calm him down. Instead, they spoke about their cars and bonuses and new restaurants.
“This young generation of doctors that our medical schools are producing are disconnected emotionally in every way from the patients.”
- Tom London
When that patient died, he was left there for hours and swarmed by hundreds of flies.
“That is when I decided I had had enough of the inhumane treatment by the doctors in this hospital.”
- Tom London
