Western Cape government gives City of Cape Town 'serious warning' to clean up Dunoon

The overcrowded community of Dunoon has been suffering with streets littered with mountains of waste.
Dunoon is a site of chronic dumping, leading to health and environmental concerns, and the spaces along the N7 and parks in the community are filled with rubbish.

The Western Cape Environmental Affairs Department has given the City of Cape Town 30 days to execute a clean-up operation and put forward a waste management plan.
“This pre-directive is ultimately a serious warning to the City to clean up the area and the spaces along the N7.”

The City announced that from the start of September, rubbish collection in Dunoon would increase to three times a week.
