Is it a phone or a tablet? The options (and price tag) are endless.

Hot after Apple unveiled its iPhone 16 range, Huawei has upped the ante.

The Chinese tech giant has launched its triple-folding smartphone, the Mate XT.

Users can fold the device three ways like an accordion screen door.

It promises a 10-inch tablet in a pocket with a price tag of ¥19,999 (R50,256).

The new phone has AI assistance with image editing, text summary, translation, and editing functions.

Completely closed the phone's thickness is similar to Samsung's Fold 6.

The Mate XT goes on sale on 20 September, the same day as Apple’s iPhone 16.

Huawei says it has already received four million pre-orders.
