Discover the Northern Cape - South Africa’s all-in-one province

Adventure seekers and lovers of small towns won't want to miss out on exploring the Northern Cape - often described as South Africa’s all-in-one province.

Well-known attractions such as the Big Hole in Kimberley, Sutherland, Quiver Tree Forest and the famous Orange River reflect just how diverse the province is. After all, it is the largest and most sparse province in the country.

Liezel and I were amped to take a trip up to a province filled with blue skies, endless landscapes and intriguing small towns. The Northern Cape proved to have an abundance of hidden gems, but here are a couple of spots you should visit:

  • Douglas
  • Priescka
  • Carnarvon
  • Loxton

The landscape displays the diversity and cultural richness of the Northern Cape since most of the province is part of a plateau often referred to as the Highveld. Put simply, you are immersed in natural beauty. Be prepared for Endless blue skies, starry nights, open grass plains and the semi-desert region of The Great Karoo.

We got a taste of the wondrous landscape when arriving in Kimberley, but as we road-tripped through a few more small towns en route to Carnarvon, we were left in awe.

Liezel has visited the beautiful province in the past, but on this trip, she truly got to appreciate the scenic route. We spotted giraffes, sable antelopes, eagles, guinea fowl, meerkats and so much more.

The only question left is, when are you going to plan your visit? If you need some more convincing then stay tuned to our socials for more of our adventure across the Northern Cape.
