Cameroon Football Federation chief Samuel Eto’o has been banned from attending any of the national team’s matches for six months.

FIFA says he violated disciplinary regulations at the U20 Women’s World Cup match between Brazil and Cameroon in Colombia on 11 September.

The governing body did not specify what happened at the match but that it related to ‘offensive behaviour and violations of the principles of fair play’.

The former Barcelona striker has been president of the federation since 2021.

“He won’t be part of the team that will see whether Cameroon qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and the 2025 Afcon.”

The Cameroon Football Federation says it was a misunderstanding and may challenge the ban.

“He [Eto’o] is entitled to use the legal means at his disposal to ensure justice is done in this matter," read their statement.
