Today, all eyes are on the West Coast town of Klawer as judgment is anticipated in the harrowing case against Daniel Smit, a 58-year-old man who has pleaded guilty to the murder of 13-year-old Jerobejin Van Wyk after he allegedly stole mangoes.

Parts of the 13-year-old's body were found in a drain on Smit's property two days after the child was reported missing.

Months later, more human remains were found in an oil drum by the new homeowner while he was cleaning the property.

"He told the court that he became involved with a Chinese cult group at the age of 13. He was taught how to do black magic and cast spells and also got involved in Satanism."
- Lauren Isaacs, Reporter - EWN

Isaacs says that the community of Klawer is outraged by this case, particularly the victim's family, who remain deeply affected two years later by the fact that not all of van Wyk's body parts were present in the coffin during his burial.

She emphasises that the boy's mother wanted her son to be laid to rest properly and with dignity.

Isaacs mentions that two witnesses will testify in court today, and she anticipates that a sentence will be handed down tomorrow.
