Justice Dpt restricts credit access for child maintenance defaulters
Around 70% of parents who have been ordered to pay maintenance are defaulters.

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Social Justice Foundation and Consumer Profile Bureau to target child maintenance defaulters.
The MOU will make it more difficult for child maintenance defaulters to access credit.

Defaulters’ details will be sent to the credit bureau to ensure credit providers are aware of them.
