Alleged underworld figures, Jerome "Donkie" Booysen, Andre Naude and 12 others face various charges related to Wainstein's murder in 2017.
After handing the court Lifman's death certificate, the State told Judge Vincent Saldanha that the case against Booysen, Naude and 12 others would proceed.
The State said that the numbering of the accused would stay the same, with Booysen as accused number two and Nuade as accused number three.
Defence lawyer for Booysen and Naude, Advocate Amanda Nel, also handed the court a medical certificate for Naude to be excused from court on Monday because he was ill.
The matter is set to continue on Tuesday, when the State brings in a new witness to testify related to communications between Booysen, Naude and the State witness involved in Wainstein's murder.
