Four people in Los Angeles were arrested recently and charged with insurance fraud after allegedly staging a damage claim for a Rolls-Royce saying that 'a bear' attacked the luxury vehicle.

However, after investigation, 'the bear' was revealed to be a person wearing a bear costume.

According to the California Department of Insurance, the suspects filed a claim in January, reporting that a bear had damaged the interior of their 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost while it was parked at Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino Mountains.

To support the claim, the suspects submitted a video showing the supposed 'bear' inside the vehicle.

However, upon closer investigation, detectives determined that the 'bear' was a person wearing a bear costume, after finding the costume at one of the suspects' homes.

The four suspects have been identified as Ruben Tamrazian (26), Ararat Chirkinian (39), Vahe Muradkhanyan (32), and Alfiya Zuckerman (39).

Authorities say the total amount defrauded from the insurance company was about R2 million ($141,839).

"They got away with it... barely," says Friedman.

"But why would you keep the costume in your house? Not very bright.
