Alyse Ogletree has helped nourish hundreds of thousands of premature babies by donating more than 2600 litres of her breastmilk to Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas.
Ogletree's donations made it into the Guinness World Records under the category: 'largest donation of breastmilk by an individual.'
The 36-year-old woman and mom of three from Flower Mound, Texas, found a way to fulfil her philanthropic instinct when she started producing an 'unusually large amount' of breastmilk after giving birth to her first son, Kyle (now 14), and after a nurse recommended the option of donation to her.
"I have a big heart, [but] at the end of the day, I’m not made of money and I can’t give away money to good causes over and over because I have a family to support. But donating milk was a way I could give back," Ogletree told Guinness World Records.
In July 2023, the Guinness Organisation registered Ogletree as having broken the record for the largest individual donation of breastmilk: 2,645.58 litres.
It was Ogletree's second time clinching the achievement. Ogletree also captured the Guinness mark in 2014 by donating 1,569.79 litres.
The breastmilk bank says they are 'astounded and inspired' by Ogletree's delivery, which has also been making global headlines.
"She gives back without it costing her anything... and has really made a difference to these fragile infants."
