Man gunned down in Bonteheuwel in early hours of New Year's Day

CAPE TOWN - Bonteheuwel's start to the new year has been marred by a deadly shooting.
Police said that a 28-year-old man was killed in a hail of bullets on Citrus Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Spokesperson, Wesley Twigg, said no one's been arrested yet.
"Bishop Lavis police attended to the crime scene where they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his head. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined. The suspect or suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested."
Meanwhile, two suspects have been arrested for carrying an illegal firearm in Elsies River.
Twigg said that members of the anti-gang unit were out on patrols.
"Members of the anti-gang unit stopped and searched a man in 14th Avenue, Leonsdale, during crime prevention operations and found a 9mm pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The 28-year-old suspect face charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. They will appear in the Goodwood Magistrates Court on Friday, 3 January 2025 on the mentioned charges respectively."
