CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Health Department has confirmed to EWN that it's investigating an incident out of Cape Town's Karl Bremer Hospital.

A video has gone viral of what's understood to be a security guard dragging a patient lying on the floor.

The video first shows the male patient lying on the floor holding what appears to be his medication.

And in full view of several hospital visitors, the security guard demands that the patient gets up.

She then takes the patient by the arm, pulling him out of the camera's view.

EWN can hear the guard saying: "Let's take him to the controller room," and "You are bothering us."

The Western Cape Health Department has described the incident as regrettable.

The service provider, Phangela Security Group, has also launched an investigation.

The company said that this case was deeply concerning and commited to upholding the dignity and respect of all hospital patients.
