Road closures for Tweede Nuwe Jaar Minstrel Parade celebrations on Saturday, 4 January 2025
All side streets leading to Wale Street, Adderley Street as well as Darling Street will be closed and traffic will be diverted.
The Tweede Nuwe Jaar Minstrel Parade takes place on Saturday, 4 January 2025.
The vibrant parade is a celebration where hundreds of Cape Minstrel troupes welcome the New Year in the streets of the CBD with music, dance and cultural significance.
Approximately 20 000 performers from 18 minstrel troupes will entertain crowds in the thousands with the rhythmic symphony of banjos, guitars, ghoema drums, trombones and tubas.
To accommodate the street parade, these roads will be temporarily closed in Cape Town's CBD between 6 am and 11:55 pm on Saturday, 4 January 2025:

To assist with traffic on major thoroughfares, stop and go systems will be in place along Buitengracht Street and Wale Street and other areas in the CBD.
There are a few popular hotels that have restricted vehicle access due to the road closures in place for this event.
Routing has been made to accommodate 5 major hotels that are affected. These 5 hotels are:
- Taj Hotel- located on the corner of Wale Street and Adderley Street. Parking access for this hotel is on Wale Street.
- Mandela Rhodes Place- Located on the corner of Burg and Wale Street. Parking access for this hotel is located on Burg Street.
- In on the Square- Located on Green Market Square. Parking access is via Longmarket Street.
- Hyatt Hotel- Located on the Cnr of Wale & Buitengracht. Parking access is via buitengracht St
- Hilton Hotel- Located on the corner of Buitengracht Street and Wale Street. Parking for this hotel is 10 Minstrel 2025 KKK located on Wale Street and will be blocked off once the roads are closed.
