Bongani Bingwa speaks with Redi Tlhabi, a well-known South African journalist and producer in the United States.

Listen below:

After an attempted insurrection and 34 felony convictions, Donald Trump is back in office in the US.

He has vowed to waste no time stamping his authority on the country.

Tlhabi says that in Washington DC it feels like a funeral as many of the liberal residents are devastated by the outcome of the election.

Trump has previously signed executive orders to pull the US out of the World Health Organisation, and the Paris Climate Accords.

In addition to this, he has pardoned several violent insurrectionists.

“There are real substantive issues that are being felt, and they will be felt for years to come.”
