CAPE TOWN - The Swartland Municipality is urging Chatsworth residents to reduce water usage and report perpetrators who vandalise the water pipe infrastructure.
The municipality said this is causing routine outages.
Residents have been complaining that they have not had water for over a week.
The area is still recovering from flooding caused by the bursting of six retention dams in Riverlands in 2024.
"Due to the reservoir levels falling to 4% halfway through this past week, the municipality was forced to implement measures to stabilise the water supply, including limiting usage in the highest-demand areas and deploying water trucks to affected zones to ensure all residents have access to water at all times,” said the Swartland Municipality’s spokesperson, Mart-Marie Haasbroek.
