CAPE TOWN - State prosecutors are set to continue cross-examining alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack on Monday.
Modack, along with 14 others, faces 122 charges for various crimes including murder, extortion, fraud and money laundering.
Modack is being cross-examined to account for his evidence-in-chief.
State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans last week set out to show Modack is guilty of trying to bribe former top cop, major general Jeremy Vearey.
It's the State's case that Modack tried to bribe Cearey to return six firearms confiscated from Modack's home in 2017.
Modack claims he paid more than R1 million to Vearey via a middleman Mohamed Hanware for his guns to be returned, and to prove Vearey was corrupt.
Wolmarans has questioned Modack about payments from Empire Investment cars, of more than R500,000 to Hanware's wife, Caitlyn Bowan.
Hanware testified he convinced Modack to make the payments as part of a con for Modack to pay Hanware back money he was owed.
