JOHANNESBURG - The case against the man arrested in connection with the assault of patrons at Zanzou has been postponed to the end of this month.

The 41-year-old, who has been in custody for almost two weeks, made his second appearance in the Pretoria Magistrates court on Monday.

He is facing six charges of assault and eight more of compelled sexual assault.

He is believed to be among the bouncers seen on viral video footage torturing a group of young men at the Pretoria east nightclub.

Last week, the case against the Zanzou bouncer was postponed after it was revealed that an identity parade had not been completed.

On Monday, the State had expected the identity parade to conclude, but it has once again stalled.

According to the State, this delay is due to another victim coming forward, who also needs to undergo the process of identifying the suspect.

MK Party Gauteng spokesperson Bafana Mahlabe said the suspect must face the full might of the law.

"We actually encourage more of them to come out because we believe this matter is not just an isolated incident - it’s widespread. There are even serious allegations of people having lost their lives at some of these establishments," said Mahlabe.

The suspect will return to court on 28 March 2025.
