With the Cape Town Cycle Tour fast approaching on Sunday (9 March), Nicola Simpson called in to Good Morning Cape Town with Lester Kiewit to share an inspiring story about her 15-year-old son, Ethan Simpson.
Unlike most riders tackling the iconic race on two wheels, Ethan will be riding the 109 kilometre race on a unicycle—all in support of CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa).
Nicola was on her way to collect Ethan’s race pack at the Cycle Tour Expo when she spoke to Kiewit, expressing both pride and excitement for her son’s remarkable effort to raise awareness for children battling cancer.
Ethan’s unique ride is set to turn heads on race day, while shining a light on an important cause.
To express his support for CHOC, Ethan will wear what resembles a purple cow, so give him a MOO if you ride past him!
"He did last year's Cape Town Cycle Tour on a unicycle successfully and this year's he's coming back to try and do it in a better time for CHOC... he's the purple cow."
