ProVerb: How I built a budding property portfolio

He's a presenter, rapper, producer and, as he tells The Money Show's Stephen Grootes, a budding property magnet.

ProVerb: How I built a budding property portfolio

Stephen Grootes is joined on The Money Show by rapper, author and presenter Tebogo "ProVerb" Thekisho.

Listen below:

Hailing from Kimberley in the Northern Cape, Tebogo 'ProVerb' Thekisho, burst onto the entertainment scene in 2005 with his debut album 'The Book of ProVerb'.

From there he would secure a spot as one of the country's best-loved radio hosts, sitting in the hot seat at stations like Y-FM and Metro FM.

But it was in 2010, when he became a co-host of Idols SA season 6 with Liezel van der Westhuizen that he became known to a broader audience and became a household name in South Africa.

"That changed my life and I am forever grateful."

Acknowledging that he won't be the 'golden boy' of the entertainment biz forever, in recent years, Thekisho says he has sought to explore different revenue streams.

"I know eventually, there'll be some social media hit who will take my job, and rightfully so, and when they do I need to be able to continue to support my kids."

"As I was getting older and a little bit wiser, you realise that entertainment is short-lived."

And one of the areas in which the Idols host has sought to invest is in good old fashioned bricks and mortar:

"For me property was a wise way to go."

"I bought one, and then a second and a third, and then what I did was I went to study because I realised, I'm blindly doing this thing."

With some solid property know-how in his back pocket, Thekisho says he continued building his personal property portfolio.

"I do have a modest portfolio that is spread across Cape Town and KZN and Gauteng."
