The weekend is almost upon us which means Liezel van der Westhuizen shares some fitness events happening around the Cape.
Rhythm Run 2025 – Run for Literacy
When: Saturday, 29 March 2025
Where: Mistico Equestrian Centre, R312 (between Durbanville & Paarl),
About the event: support the Christian Literature Fund (CLF) and Early Childhood Development by running through a nature reserve with Springbok sightings, and scenic farm trails with post-race treats.
Race distances and entry fees:
- 3 km kiddies run – R100 (start: 8:50 am)
- 5km run the vines – R150 (start: 8:45 am)
- 10km run the vines – R170 (start: 8:30 am)
- 15km run the vines – R200 (start: 8:00 am)

3rd Annual Groenkloof Generations Run
When: Saturday, 29 March 2025, 9 am
Where: Groenkloof Wellness & Aquatic Centre, George, Western Cape
About the event: Ready to bring the whole family together for a day of fitness and fun?
Participants can enter the 1km, 3km, or 5km routes, and will receive a medal and enjoy a complimentary beverage at The Hub House on completion.
You can walk, run, or use a mobility device, all are welcome.

Super Tri Summer Series #2
When: Sunday, 30 March 2025
Where: Cape Town, Western Cape
About the event: get ready to push your limits and celebrate your fitness journey with the Super Tri Summer Series #2!
This event is part of a three-race series, and if you participate in more than two events, you could qualify for the grand prize and an invite to the series finals at the end of the year.
The event offers top-quality facilities, including indoor heated pools, stationary bikes, and a scenic cross-country run. Whether you’re going solo or forming a relay team, it’s an exhilarating challenge you won’t want to miss.
Race format:

Swim: 25m indoor heated pool with trained lifeguards

Bike: Stationary spinning and watt bikes (your choice)

Run: Cross-country route with a finish line around a cricket field
Distances:

Super Sprint: 400m swim, 10km bike, 2km run

Sprint: 600m swim, 15km bike, 4km run
Teams:
If you’re up for some team fun, you can compete in a relay team, where each member tackles one leg—swim, bike, or run—before passing the baton.
