To say that relations between the US and South Africa are strained would be an understatement.
Just over a week since Ebrahim Rasool was expelled as ambassador, the US has cut all military ties with South Africa.
Some worry this is a prelude to economic sanctions.
Thankfully, South Africa is getting support from other parts of the world.
100 MPs from several countries in the EU, South America and Asia have signed a petition saying that South Africa is being singled out by the US for its case against Israel in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Corbyn is one of the signatories of this petition. He believes the US is trying to intimidate South Africa and other countries that support Palestine.
“I do not think we can run a world on the basis of fear of what a US administration may say or attempt to do to individual countries that absolutely assert their sovereign right to go to an international body with a legitimate case.”

Corbyn says that all signatories stand in solidarity with South Africa for the 'terrible treatment they are getting from the United States' for supporting Palestinians in Gaza.
“On behalf of lots of people, in Britain and many other places, thank you South Africa for taking the lead for international justice.”
