During US President Donald Trump's upcoming state visit to the UK, King Charles is expected to propose offering the United States associate membership in the Commonwealth, a move that Trump has enthusiastically welcomed.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump said: “I Love King Charles. Sounds good to me!”

However, as Gilchrist points out, for this proposal to move forward, all 56 nations in the Commonwealth, including South Africa, would need to grant their approval.
