JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) secretary general Fikile Mbalula says it's now up to the Democratic Alliance (DA) to decide whether to remain in the Government of National Unity (GNU).
This follows the DA’s rejection of the fiscal framework and revenue proposals in Parliament on Wednesday due to the 0.5% Value-Added Tax (VAT) increase.
While the fiscal framework was passed without the DA’s support, the ANC received the support of ActionSA to get it over the line.

Speaking in Diepsloot on Friday, Mbalula said the DA has shown no interest in staying in the GNU.
"The ball is in their court. They’ve chosen the path, they must analyse and decide on the implications. So now we are being given a burden to decide the DA’s fate in the GNU. It can’t be a burden. When you’ve decided that you’re not coming to my wedding, you’re no longer my friend."
