President Donald Trump recently unveiled a series of new tariffs targeting trade partners worldwide, even extending to remote, uninhabited islands.

Among the most surprising inclusions on the list are the Heard and McDonald Islands, an Australian external territory located nearly 1,000 miles north of Antarctica.

Despite the islands' lack of economic activity and human presence, they are now subject to a 10% tariff.

The islands are home to a variety of wildlife, including seals, penguins, albatrosses, petrels, and other seabirds, as well as a range of invertebrates.

"There's no one to pay the tariffs, which is hilarious... it's bizarre."
