CapeTalk's Lester Kiewit interviews Steve Ross, an Elsie's River community leader.
Listen below:
Ross has grown increasingly frustrated with the rising number of unsuspecting motorists and passengers losing their phones and belongings in his neighbourhood, Elsie's River.
In response, he decided to take action.
Armed with a large whiteboard, Ross created a bold, eye-catching sign in red and blue that reads: "Warning: Smash + Grab".
"I do it because I'm sick and tired of crime... I want to see some action."

Living near 35th Avenue, a major intersection in Elsie's River, Ross is all too familiar with the dangerous situation.
It's here that fast-moving criminals lie in wait, targeting vulnerable drivers.
Whether acting alone or rallying other community members, he is committed to driving the change needed to protect residents and motorists.
"Just do something to warn people who are unaware of the dangers of the area."
