A recent report into the inner workings of City Power paints a horrifying picture.
Based on a News24 investigation it suggests massive mismanagement and unqualified managers in senior positions.
The report says one senior official claims to have a qualification from Unisa which the university stressed it does not offer.
This fraud within the recruitment process is the cause of billions of rands of financial loss, it says.
However, Mashava insists that there is no truth in this report.
“Personally, I find it regrettable that I have to talk about something so baseless.”

She adds that the report is harmful to employees who are named in the article, and she feels a responsibility to put on record that the claims are not true.
“Our recruitment is highly rigorous.”
