702 and CapeTalk’s Africa Melane and fitness coach Liezel van der Westhuizen unpack the inspiring journey of three Limpopo cyclists.
Listen below:
Three youngsters have cycled about 1,700km from Burgersfort in Limpopo to Cape Town.
Gauta Mahlakoane (22), Maxwell Ndou (24) and Karabo Mokoo (21) captured South Africa's hearts as they shared their journey online.
They began their journey on 2 April without funding or backup to raise awareness about the need for a cycling club in their community.
“… to take the youngsters off the streets and have a safe place to just train… They have ordinary bikes that they’ve been using to cycle to Cape Town.”
