JOHANNESBURG - Electricity at the Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria has been restored following a successful payment arrangement made with the City of Tshwane.
On Monday, during a power cut-off operation named "Tshwane ya Tima", the city disconnected the hospital’s power, citing it owed R1 million to the municipality.
Health department spokesperson Motalale Modiba said the cut-off did not impact any operations or affect patients.
"We can confirm that normal power supply has been restored at Weskoppies Hospital. This follows engagement that GDH had with the City of Tshwane in terms of the department confirming that indeed the process to settle the outstanding amount for March-April is actually advanced."
