CAPE TOWN - Special Investigating Unit (SIU) head Andy Mothibi says he will use the chairmanship of the Association of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Commonwealth Africa to foster greater collaboration with non-state actors in the fight against corruption.
This includes civil society, the public sector and the media.

The SIU assumed control of the regional body from Ghana on behalf of South Africa following a weeklong conference in Cape Town.
During the conference, anti-corruption bodies discussed ways to collaborate and use new technology in rooting out graft in the public service.
The SIU says its leadership of the commonwealth body comes at a critical time across the continent as the corruption watchdog commits to leveraging innovation and enhancing institutional integrity in the anti-corruption structures of national agencies.
With the SIU also the current chair of the G20 anti-corruption working group, Mothibi says these priorities will be integrated into that of the commonwealth association.
"We’ve got four priorities. The first priority is strengthening the public sector by promoting transparency, integrity and accountability."
Another priority is the recovery and seizure of assets obtained through corrupt deeds.
This week's conference also witnessed the official launch of the SIU's Anti-Corruption and Cyber Academy, which will aim to build capacity in anti-corruption work across the continent.
"We will develop a compendium of good practice on the role of multi-stakeholders in preventing and combatting corruption."
The G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group will meet again in Brazil next month.
The SIU, meanwhile, will retain the chairmanship of the Commonwealth Association of Anti-Corruption Bodies until its 16th regional conference is held in Cameroon next year.
