JOHANNESBURG - Residents of Montana, in Tshwane, are being urged to use water sparingly.
The reservoir is undergoing maintenance after the city received many reports of water discolouration.
Affected communities will have to brace themselves with a low water supply for three days as the reservoir is cleaned.
The city’s spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo, said part of the contingency plan is using a temporary bypass pipeline.
“The city encourages residents to assist in conserving and using water sparingly by doing the following: Do not water gardens. Do not wash cars. Do not clean driveways or pavements using hosepipes. Do not fill swimming pools. Flush toilets only when necessary. Close a running tap while brushing your teeth. Reduce daily water usage as much as possible.”
