The school in Midrand was abuzz this week after one of its students became a continental champion.

Lazola Maku and his team, the Amajita, lifted the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations trophy on Sunday (18 May).

The guys made history as the first South African team to win the title, following a 1–0 win over Morocco in the finals.

The SuperSport United player shone brightly at this year’s tournament, winning Man of the Match when South Africa drew with Zambia to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Sanjay describes him as “aspirational” and “goal-focused”.

With the young player expected back at school on Wednesday, the celebrations will continue.

“We have something special planned… We will be having a merit assembly to honour this achievement of his and to acknowledge that he will be going to the World Cup as well.”
