Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a Gaza paediatrician, experienced unimaginable tragedy when nine of her ten children were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.

The strike hit their home near Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday.

Her husband, Dr Hamdi al-Najjar and their surviving child were both severely injured in the attack and are in critical condition in hospital.

Al-Najjar was at work at the al-Tahrir clinic in Nasser Medical Complex when the bodies of her children were brought in. Gilchrist says she collapsed.

“This is just impossible to imagine… War is brutal but this goes somehow even further than that.”
