Spirits were high in the Sundowns camp ahead of the second leg final of the CAF Champions League on Sunday (1 June).

“... this is years and years of hard work and sacrifice..."
– Ronwen Williams, Captain – Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns and Pyramids FC went into the match on a 1–1 aggregate, making it all to play for.

The players and technical team reflected on the performance in the first leg

“It really felt like someone died in the changing room [after the first game]… but the most important thing to know is that we have another opportunity. And knowing Mamelodi Sundowns, playing away doesn’t change much for us.”
– Ronwen Williams, Captain – Mamelodi Sundowns

Unfortunately, in the end, the 2025 CAF Champions League title was not meant to be for Mamelodi Sundowns.

They lost 2–1 (3–2 on aggregate) to the Pyramids.
