JOHANNESBURG - Nandipha Magudumana’s father said he would be appealing Legal Aid’s decision not to represent him in a case involving his daughter and convicted murderer and rapist, Thabo Bester.

Zolile Sekeleni spoke at the Bloemfontein High Court on Tuesday morning during a pre-trial hearing.

Legal Aid rejected his application for representation in January in the case with eight co-accused persons.

They face charges including fraud, corruption, aiding an escape, violating a corpse, and defeating the ends of justice.

Bester and his main accomplice, Magudumana, were arrested in Tanzania following his 2022 escape from the Mangaung prison.

Sekeleni said he couldn't afford legal fees.
