JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level two warning for inclement weather in the Western Cape and Northern Cape.

This comes as a cold snap has made landfall in both provinces, accompanied by disruptive rains, strong winds, and damaging waves.

The national forecaster says by Thursday, the cold front would have moved to flood-stricken Eastern Cape, where similar conditions are expected along the coast.

Forecaster Tokelo Chiloane says while no cold snap is expected in Gauteng, residents must brace themselves for a drop in temperatures.

" Snowfall is anticipated over mountainous areas and high lying areas of the Cape provinces. Over the interior province, there is a 30% chance of isolated showers and rain with a yellow level two warning for damaging winds in places; however, no rainfall is expected in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo."
