Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sánchez have arrived in Venice, Italy, for their multi-million-dollar, three-day wedding celebration.

The wedding is estimated to cost between $46million and $56million.

While many of the details of the wedding have been kept under wraps, the pair have reportedly booked out entire hotels and closed part of the city to the public.

Their wedding plans have sparked mass protests from activists who threaten to clog the canals with inflatable crocodiles to block guests.

Activists from the ‘No Space For Bezos’ group feel that Venice is being ‘privatised and exploited’ by Bezos for the wedding.

The activists may be able to declare a win as the wedding may not be legal.

A senior Venice Town Hall councillor has reported that there is no legally appointed registrar for the ceremony, and the venue is not recognised for weddings.

“After spending millions of dollars, it may not even be legal. Although we all know Jeff Bezos is a clever man. Have they secretly married beforehand?”
