Countries in Southern Europe are facing unprecedented heat, with France, Italy, Portugal and Spain being particularly hard hit.
Spain recorded its highest ever June temperature of 46C and has issued warnings for people to take extra care.
Almost the entirety of mainland France is also on `heatwave alert' for the first time in history, and 200 public schools have been partially or totally closed on Monday and Tuesday.
“Europe is currently the fastest heating up continent in the world.”
